Life Skills Development Program
1. Life Skills Development Program
Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Our “Life Skills Development Program” is designed to equip the young learners with these essential life skills through “Experiential activities” (based on David R Kolb’s Experiential Learning Methodology).
There are many such skills that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands & challenges of everyday life, but 10 core life skills laid down by UNICEF are:
3. Critical thinking
4. Creative thinking
5. Decision making
6. Problem Solving
7. Effective communication
8. Interpersonal relationship
9. Coping with stress
10. Coping with emotion
A review by UNICEF explains that approaches relying on life skills have been effective in educating youth about health-related issues like substance abuse, nutrition and many more. Life skills education programs can also be effective in preventing school dropout and violence among young people. Finally, these programs can lay the foundation for skills demanded in today’s job market and develop responsible young citizens for the country.
